Daniel Sampson

Praised by the New Orleans Times-Picayune for his “strong and moving performance,” tenor Daniel E. Sampson brings inspiration and expression every time he sings.

Recent performances include Rinnucio in Peabody Opera’s Gianni Schicchi, his New York Professional debut as George Stinney, Sr. in Stinney: An American Execution at the Prototype New Opera Festival, tenor soloist in Schubert’s Mass in G Major and as a soloist for Bernstein’s Mass under the baton of Marin Alsop. Previously he sang the role of Monotatsos in Loyola Opera’s The Magic Flute, as well as productions of Big River and Godspell. Sampson has been a featured soloist for many churches in both Baltimore and New Orleans, including an appearance as the tenor soloist for Vivaldi’s Magnificat at New Orleans’ historic St. Louis Cathedral. He also sang with the New Orleans Opera Chorus for five seasons.

A passionate educator and director, Daniel has taught at all levels of music education, from working with young students, to the collegiate level. He currently serves as the Director of Liturgical Music at St. Agnes and St. William of York Catholic Church in Baltimore. In 2015, Daniel was a prensenter for the Louisiana Chapter - American Choral Directors Association State Conference. Sampson is also the 2018 winner of the Interplay Teaching Artist Residency at University of Maryland, Baltimore County.

Daniel received the Bachelor of Music Education and Voice from Loyola University New Orleans and the Master of Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University.
