Creative Director, Violist
YaShauna Swan studied viola performance at Shenandoah University and American University under the tutelage of Miles Hofman, Sel Kardan, and Osman Kivrak. Starting on violin at the age of six, Ms. Swan switched to viola at age thirteen in order to expand her repertoire and to be multifaceted. She, currently, identifies as a violist but enjoys any opportunity to shed on the violin. She has performed with many regional orchestras throughout the area and maintains a studio. She is, also, a proud alumni and current teacher at the D.C Youth Orchestra Program in Washington, D.C. Although classically trained, Ms. Swan has also performed with a variety of popular artists including, Roberta Flack, Tye Tribbet, Eric Roberson, Kurt Carr, Karen Clarke-Sheard, Bilal, and many other notable artists. Ms. Swan has been featured at the famed Blues Alley in Washington, DC and on BET. Most recently, she performed on NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert with Mac Miller. Ms. Swan currently resides in the Washington, DC area and is the proud mother of a daughter named Ava.
