Announcing the Winners of the 2020 Price Awards

The Board of Creative Directors of the International Florence Price Festival is pleased to honor this slate of 6 esteemed artists and leaders who have inspired us with their lives, their art, and their work.

When Price Fest was founded in early 2019, our organization quickly seized upon a number of key values and priorities that we believe are informed by the life and work of Price herself, and by our organization's vision and values as we explore not only her work, but the work of other equity-seeking groups, just as her legacy requires. Among those priorities was the importance of recognizing artists, scholars, advocates, and even leaders outside of the music industry who have lived lives of conscience, who have lived up to Price’s legacy, and who have honored her music with their accomplishments.

Nominees were submitted and voted upon by secret ballot by the voting members of the Price Fest Board of Creative Directors. In the coming weeks and months, we look forward to sharing more about our first class of laureates. For now, we are proud to announce their names and celebrate their remarkable accomplishments.
